Ambassador calls on Prof. Birol Akgun, Chairman of Maarif Foundation

Ambassador M. Rizvi Hassen briefed the status of the international school Sri Lanka initially established by some Turkish nationals during his meeting with Prof. Birol Akgun , Chairman of Maarif Foundation at  Maarif Foundation Ankara office on 23.09.2019.

 Prof. Birol Akgun elaborated activities of the foundation and its operations in Asia and Europe. The Maarif Foundation has set up by Turkish government in 2016 to assist local needs of children to be part of the educational system of the country.  The Maarif foundation establish 300 schools in 35 countries including one University. The Turkish Maarif Foundation has officially taken over administrative control of schools run by the FETO in Somalia, Afghanistan and Pakistan.

 Ambassador briefed on Sri Lankan educational system and request Prof. Birol to send  fact finding mission to Sri Lanka to assess government’s education system plans and to visit international school under consideration.
