For the purpose of Legalization & Certification of documents, applicants are required to submit the original documents authenticated by the Consular Division of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sri Lanka. (Photocopies /scanned or tampered documents will not be accepted)
Please note that the documents without the authentication of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkey or accredited countries will not be accepted for these purposes.
Attestation of documents issued by the Authorities in Turkey/Ukraine/Georgia
Any document issued by the Turkish/Ukrainian/Georgian authorities should be verified/authenticated by the Consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of respective country and then submitted to the Sri Lanka Embassy in Ankara, Turkey for attestation or legalisation.

Payments should be made in cash at the counter if the application is submitted in person.
If the payment method is bank transfer and if there is any bank charges involves the transfer, such amount should be borne by you in addition to the passport renewal fee indicated above. The necessary details are provided below.
If the certificates and documents are to be returned by the post, applicant you should bear up the postal charges or will be retained at this Mission until the applicant collects it personally.
Note: The Embassy will not take any responsibility for documents lost in the post.
If the applicant is unable to call on personally to the Mission to collect the documents, he/she may authorise another person, in writing. The person who comes for collection of documents should produce his/her identity and the original cash receipt issued by this Embassy.

Note: Power of Attorney & Affidavit should be submitted without placing the signature and the applicant should sign in front of the Consular Officer in the Embassy.
If the Power of Attorney or Affidavit signed in front of Turkish/Ukrainian/Georgian authorities the document should be legalised by the consular Section of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the relevant country for the attestation by this Embassy.
Power of Attorney:-
If you require two witnesses to sign the Power of Attorney then you are kindly requested to bring witnesses with you. Witnesses should be Sri Lankan Nationals holding valid Sri Lankan passports and valid Turkish/Ukrainian/Georgian visas. Otherwise the Mission could assist for two witnesses if applicant could not find witnesses.
IMPORTANT: SUBMISSION OF FORGED OR SCANNED DOCUMENTS AND MAKING FALSE DECLARATIONS RELATING TO THE CITIZENSHIP STATUS IS AN OFFENCE. SUCH CASES WILL BE REPORTED TO THE RELEVANT AUTHORITIES AND PAYMENTS WILL NOT BE REFUNDED.
