Following an initiative by the Embassy of Sri Lanka, Ankara, the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka and the Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Turkey established links to enhance trade, investment & tourism between Sri Lanka and Turkey. Mr. Manjula de Silva, Secretary General/CEO of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Gökhan Özdemir, Secretary General of Ankara Chamber of Commerce and the Ambassador Rizvi Hassen had a constructive discussion virtually on 17th February 2021. During the virtual meeting the two trade chambers identified sectors for future cooperation, organizing virtual  business matchmaking sessions, exchange of business delegations and organize joint business symposiums once the Covid -19 pandemic calms down.  The Secretary Generals of trade chambers also agreed to initiate a dialogue to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding for a binding cooperation.  Mr. Ahmet Arif Sezgin, Deputy Secretary General of Ankara Chamber of Commerce, Mr. Ferhat Akyuz, Director (International Relations and Foreign Trade Department) of Ankara Chamber of Commerce,  Ms. Lilakshi de Mel, Senior Assistant Secretary General of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce and Ms. Yoshitha Jayasuriya, Counsellor (Commercial) of the Embassy attended this virtual meeting. Ankara Chamber of Commerce established in capital city of Turkey which is the second largest Trade Chamber in Turkey with a membership of 160,000 prominent Turkish conglomerates and local companies.
