The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara, Turkey organized information sharing webinar and business networking session on seafood industry in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Export Development Board & “Turkey- Sri Lanka Business Council” on 18 th December 2020. The aim of the webinar was to share the information on Sri Lankan seafood industry and its capabilities to cater Turkish market and also to connect potential Turkish importers, traders with the Sri Lankan exporters.

Ambassador M. Rizvi Hassen, Mr. Mahmut Uluer, Member of “Turkey- Sri Lanka Business Council”, made remarks & detailed presentation highlighting the strengths of Sri Lanka in the sector were shared with the participants by the Sri Lanka Seafood Exporters Association. 12 Turkish interested companies including Mr. Oğulcan Sagun, Board member of Fishery and Animal Products Exporters Association & Deputy Chairman of Group SAGUN joined the session.

During the virtual meeting Ambassador Rizvi Hassen, explained the untapped potentials in this sector & invited Turkish companies to experience different varieties of Sri Lankan seafood products.

Mr. Mahmut Uluer, Member of “Turkey - Sri Lanka Business Council”, Hon. Consul of Sri Lanka to Nevsehir and the Chairman of Lanka Balloning (Pvt) Ltd joining the session shared his experience with Sri Lanka.

Mr. Oğulcan Sagun, Board member of Fishery and Animal Products Exporters Association & Deputy Chairman of Group SAGUN speaking during the session and shown their keen interest to work together with Sri Lankan companies and also Sri Lankan associations to expand trade between two countries. Detailed presentation on Sri Lankan seafood industry was made by the Sri Lanka Export Development Board and the Sri Lankan industry representatives, Mr Dilan Fernando, President Sri Lanka Seafood Exporters Association & Mr Channa Weerathunaga, representative of Sri Lanka Seafood Exporters Association during the virtual meeting.


The Embassy and Sri Lanka Export Development Board is currently coordinating individual B2B meeting between Sri Lankan and Turkish companies starting from next week.
