Sabaragamuwa Province and Gaziantep Metropolitan region cement bilateral relations

Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara facilitated virtual meeting between Hon. Tikiri Kobbekaduwa, Governor of Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka and Ms. Fatma Şahin, Hon. Mayor of Gaziantep Metropolitan Regional Municipality on 14^th June 2021. Ambassador M.R. Hassen coordinated the virtual meeting.

During the meeting Governor, Tikiri Kobbekaduwa emphasized the importance of strengthening relations between two sister cities & exchange delegations in the future. The Mayor of Metropolitan Regional Municipality of Gaziantep, Ms. Fatma Şahin indicated that there are many areas that both side can explore & establish links to increase understanding especially tourism cooperation, and people to people contacts. Both sides agreed to meet once again to keep the momentum of the bilateral relations.

Gaziantep Metropolitan Municipality and Sabaragamuwa Provincial Council signed a sister city agreement on 28 May 2013.
