Agreement between Sri Lanka and Türkiye on eliminating Double Taxation and prevention of tax evasion and avoidance comes in to effect
The Agreement between the Government of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Government of the Republic of Türkiye for the Elimination of Double Taxation with respect to Taxes on Income and the Prevention of Tax Evasion and Avoidance was signed on 28 January 2022 during the official visit of H. E. Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu, former Foreign Minister of Türkiye and from the Sri Lankan side it was signed by Hon. Mr. Gamini Lakshman Peiris, the former Foreign Minister of Sri Lanka.
Accordingly, after completion of other internal requirements in both countries, the Agreement came into effect from 11 December 2023.
This Agreement which would bring mutual benefit to both countries in economic cooperation is yet another cornerstone in bilateral relations between the two countries, in a year that marks 75 years of diplomatic relations.
