Colombo, February 10: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena held a special meeting here on Friday to discuss provision of humanitarian aid for the earthquake-affected people in Turkiye and Syria.

Sending manpower, manufactured goods and tea by the public and private sectors was discussed at the meeting that was held on the instructions of President Ranil Wickremesinghe.

It is planned to provide medical and engineering personnel trained in UN humanitarian operations.

The program will be implemented through a committee headed by the Secretary to the Prime Minister Anura Dissanayake.

Humanitarian aid will be extended to Syria through Lebanon.

Foreign Affairs Minister Ali Sabri, Environment Minister Naseer Ahmed,  Yadamini Gunawardena MP, Secretary to the Prime Minister Anura Dissanayake, Ministry Secretaries, Chairmen and Heads of private institutions participated at the event.
