Celebrating 100th Anniversary of the Turkish Republic

Ambassador of Sri Lanka hosts “Music Life around Us”

 

In solidarity with the 100th Anniversary of the establishment of the Republic of Türkiye, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka to Türkiye, Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake hosted the 42nd Concert of “Music Life around Us” at the Official Residence of the Ambassador on 20th November 2023.

 

”Music Life Around Us – 42” organization in Türkiye founded by Ms. Zeynep Erkan and Zeynep Ersavcı, with the aim of introducing talented young Turkish musicians to the resdients of ASnkara, especially diplomatic corps, through classical music concerts.

 

As a part of cultural diplomacy intiatives, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka supports the initiatives of the foundation to strengthen bilateral cultural relations between Sri Lanka and Türkiye through music, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka hosted the Concert of Mr. Yusuf Çelik, famous Cellist in Türkiye.

 

At the beginning of the event one minute of silence was observed in memory of the victims who passed away due to the earthquake that occurred in the South-eastern part of Türkiye on 06th February 2023.

 

Welcoming the guests, the Ambassador of Sri Lanka was appreciative of the initiative Music Life around Us” as a brilliant way to bring foreigners living in Ankara to immerse into the Turkish cultural landscape through music.

 

Referring to the founding of eth Republic, she also expressed her admiration of Veteran Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, founding father of the Republic of Türkiye, for recognizing the role of women for development of the nation, and series of steps taken to empower girls and women.

 

Ms. Zeynep Ersavcı and Zeynep Erkan, founders of the organization appreciated the warm hospitality offered by the Ambassador and the staff.

 

Audience were enthralled by the performance of the Chellist, Mr. Yusuf Çelik, especially enabling the participants of the event to experience the difference between the baroque era and modern era Cellos.

 

Over 70 Ambassadors and other diplomats in Ankara, Turkish academics, media, representatives from the local municipality, Honorary Consul of Sri Lanka in Türkiye and many other Turkish nationals joined the Concert.

 

At the end of the Concert the guests enjoyed Sri Lankan delicacies and Ceylon tea.
