Sri Lanka at the Spring Bazaar International Day in Ankara
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara participated at the Spring Bazaar International Day organized by the Bilkent University East Campus in Ankara held from 16 – 17 May 2023 in the University premises.
Bilkent University, hosts over 13,000 students including foreign students from 73 countries in Ankara. The event served as a platform for celebrating all the nationalities of the students who pursue their education at the Bilkent University and to strengthen people to people connection.
The Embassy of Sri Lanka in Ankara set up a Sri Lankan stall to introduce Sri Lankan unique cultural identity through showcasing cuisine, art, handicrafts, batiks, and traditional dresses, photo panels of Sri Lanka nature, culture and Ceylon tea.
Students, staff and family members visited the Sri Lankan stall and enjoyed Sri Lankan delicacies and wearing the traditional Osariya. This event served as a platform for the Embassy to strengthen the cultural exchange with Turkish national and foreigners on Sri Lanka.
The Bazaar was also an opportunity for the Embassy to promote tourism and spread cultural awareness on Sri Lanka among Turkish and foreign nationals who visited the stall. Visitors to the stall were mesmerized by the gracefulness of Sri Lankan traditional dresses and cultural elements.
